Cherries, Spice with an Opulent Finish

The little kiss of Riesling in this is a stroke of genius! It imparts this incredible Turkish delight vibe on the nose with all of the rich dark notes from the Shiraz. On the palate the it’s all cherries, blueberries with a spicy little oak twist, but the Riesling lends itself to a very delicate and finessed finish. This is a must try wine!

The Nerdy Bits...

The 2016/17 growing season was one of the wettest on record with harvest taking place four weeks later than the 2016 vintage. The wet soils combined with a cooler than average spring and early summer meant the vines grew slowly but healthily. Harvest began in mid-March, with whole bunches of Shiraz grapes hand harvested and fermented on stalks in open fermenters on top of Riesling skins for 11 days and then pressed into a mix of new and old French barriques to complete fermentation. The wine remained in these barrels for 18 months before being racked and bottled without filtration or fining.
