Here we go again ladies and gents, the Grape to Grain LIVE tastings continue apace!!! Tom and Baz...and sometimes Jen come to you LIVE....from Prestwich!! Tremendous wines, matched cheeses and a whole load of fun..In In is the new Out Out...Until we can be In whilst Out...shakin' it all about!
Also now starting at 8pm!!! :)
Ummmm...where to begin...The Paris Wine Tasting in 1976, also known as the judgement of Paris changed the world of wine. Cali wines were pitted against the best of France and, to the consternation and outrage of the Frenchies...the Cali wines topped the polls in the Chardonnay and Cab Sav categories. We are going HUGE on this one gang...only 2 wines, but outrageous juice. Truly once in a lifetime Cabernet Sauvignons...one from California and one from Bordeaux...Will the yanks win again, or will La Vieille Garde triumph this time round???
The wines are delivered to your door, with matched choccies and we then taste it together online, we will be live streaming on Facebook and Instagram LIVE and back on Zoom too!! Banging wines and 2 pillocks hosting...or 1 pillock and Barry...
The 'portions' are 100ml 'Tasters' and 500ml 'Carafes' or the imperious 'Full Bottle'. Pick the right size for you, your budget and how many guests you have.'
Without further ado...here are the wines for this week;
- First off...the 2012 Château Brane-Cantenac Margaux. Henri Lurton’s wonderfully understated Second Growth is one of the most consistent wines of the Médoc. Never forced or pushed, it is a true and usually close to perfect expression of the vintage. 2012 is no exception, with the vintage conditions determining the cépage, and over 30% of the blend provided by rich and succulent Merlot. Delicate pepper and ripe cherries are lifted by a beautiful crunch of warm and voluminous fruit, while the finish is very elegant and long, with waves of expressive red fruits making this another fine effort. Delicate yet persistent violet on the nose, leading to black fruit, cassis & early hints of cigar box and eucalyptus.
- Up against it we are pitting the 2014 Pine Ridge Stag's Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep ruby colour is a signature of Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon. Exotic aromas of sandlewood, espresso, brown sugar, and liquorice combine with sweet ripe fruit. Concentrated and rich, and redolent with flavours of plum, black raspberry, black currant, and cola. The texture is velvety and creamy. Leathery tannins and juicy acidity frame the structure of this balanced, delicious wine.
Serious wines, for (not very) serious folk...Should be an absolute spanker!!
