Here we go again ladies and gents, the Grape to Grain LIVE tastings continue apace!!! Tom and Baz...and sometimes Jen come to you LIVE....from Prestwich!! Tremendous wines, matched cheeses and a whole load of fun..In In is the new Out Out...Until we can be In whilst Out...shakin' it all about!

Its International Merlot Day...Tom and Jen have taken OVER!! Barry can do one...we are drinking JUICE!!! The noble grape of Merlot started its life in La Belle France and is almost ubiquitous in that most prestigious of wines the Bordeaux blend. It has gone round the world and makes some of our (Tom and Jen's) fav juicebomb drops.
The wines are delivered to your door, with matched choccies and we then taste it together online, we will be live streaming on Facebook and Instagram LIVE and back on Zoom too!! Banging wines and 2 pillocks hosting...or 1 pillock and Barry...
The 'portions' are 100ml 'Tasters' and 500ml 'Carafes' or the imperious 'Full Bottle'. Pick the right size for you, your budget and how many guests you have.'
Without further ado...here are the wines for this week;
- We are stating off with a left fielder...a WHITE merlot! Meinert Wines 'The Italian Job' White Merlot. From South Africa, by way of Northern Italy, this is a superb expression of White Merlot, with just a lick of Chenin Blanc (obvs...its SA afterall). Delicate rose petal, white peach, quince and faint flint aromatics
- Next up is the OG Mack Daddy for Merlot fans, from its spiritual home of Bordeaux its the Chateau Haut Pezat St Emilion Grand Cru. From the Right Bank, this warm and spicy wine is also full of soft and velvety plum and damson.
- Third for y'all will be an expression from Chile, where Merlot has found another home. The Leyda Merlot Reserva is produced in the Maipo Valley by Viviana Navarette at the helm (voted Chile's top winemaker). Sweet aromas of plums, cherries, and spices followed by dark chocolate and tobacco notes.
- Finally...We finish on an intense boi!! The JJ Hahn Stelzer Road Merlot from the Barossa Valley in South Australia. With just a soupçon of Cab Sav this wine really bangs! A rich deep purple colour with hints of stewed plum, perfumed violet, cinnamon and cassis on the nose. The wine is matured in a mixture of French and American oak for some vanilla and butterscotch.
Serious wines, for (not very) serious folk...Should be an absolute spanker!!
