Our LIVE virtual tastings became an absolute INSTITUTION during the lockdowns of 2020, and they became a god damned NECESSITY during the 2021 ones!! We wanted to keep them going - if you don’t want to go out, don’t want to get a babysitter, don’t want to get out of your comfy’s then the Grape to Grain LIVE Tasting is here for you!
Better then a night watching Netflix, taste some brilliant wines, learn some stuff off Baz and Jen, eat some bits, laugh at Tom’s terrible jokes…ok forget that last one…The LIVE tastings will continue so ling as you want them! Xxx
Our LIVE Tastings start at 8pm :)
We love these tastings…one thing we have loved so much over the last 15/16 months is introducing you beautiful folk to so many different wines we have discovered over the months. New bits, interesting juice and alternative grapes expressions from producers we lurve!!
Well tonight is no different, we’ve got ANOTHER Iona banger, a step up in the Provencal stakes, a Paul Hobbs banger from the Sonoma Coast and a Thistledown Grenache that is both single vineyard AND old vine!!!
The wines are delivered to your door, with matched cheeses and we then taste it together online, we will be live streaming on Facebook LIVE and of course on Zoom too!! Banging wines and 2 pillocks hosting...or 2 pillocks and Jen...
The 'portions' are 100ml 'Tasters' and 500ml 'Carafes' or the imperious 'Full Bottle'. Pick the right size for you, your budget and how many guests you have.
All these are subject to change...but...here's the lineup!
- First up is the Iona Sauvignon Blanc. This is cool climate Sauvignon Blanc – vibrant, mineral, elegant, balanced and delicate, with a long, layered and complex finish.
- Next we head to the Provence for the Chateau L’Escarelle ‘Les Deux Anges’ Rose. Subtle and elegant with wild strawberry and citrus fruit on the nose. The palate is clean and fresh with beautiful smoothness and mango and pomelo notes.
- Thirdly it’s to Sonoma in California for the ‘Crossbarn’ Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir by Paul Hobbs. Bright ruby in colour and scented with inviting notes of bergamot and fresh blueberry before ending with the power and grace that’s in character with its coastal influences.
- Finally we head over to Australia to sample the Thistledown ‘Sands of Time’ Single Vineyard Old Vine Grenache. Jancis Robinson gave this 17 points, James Suckling 95…safe to say the pros really love it, and so do we!! Beautiful, haunting aromatics, fine sandy tannins and wonderful, memorable length on the palate.
Serious wines, for (not very) serious folk...Should be an absolute spanker!!
