Our in-store tastings are BACK BABY!! After a year and half of meeting through Zoom, we can now all meet up and share our love of all things boozy in person...and we are so, so, SO excited!! We have a full program of events coming up!!
Our in-store Tastings have various start times - on Thursdays they will start in both stores at 8pm. On Saturdays they will start in Rammy at 2pm and in Prestwich at 4pm. The LIVE virtual tastings will continue and they will always start at 8pm unless specifically stated otherwise!
Well it’s Father’s Day and Dads need some love too…so we are going to pair up a couple of beers and a couple of lovely wines with some legendary cheeses! A nice gentle afternoon of quiet contemplation and nice booze…we might even just have a quiet tasting… no talking, just gentle drinking and no kids!!!
He’ll be asleep on the sofa by 6pm with a World War 2 movie on in the background and will only wake up when you try to change to channel to open one eye and say ‘I’m watching that’.
Good on ya dad…good on ya…
No nationwide delivery obviously as these are IN PERSON/IN-STORE tastings only. We still delivery nationwide on our LIVE virtual tastings but this is not one of those tastings!
The 'portions' are 75ml per person unless stated otherwise, and almost always teamed up with a delicious food pairing. There will be lots of opportunity to buy more wine afterwards if you so please...
All these are subject to change...but...here's the lineup!
- First up is Manchester Union ‘Pivot’ Pale Ale. A unique take on a Manchester Pale Ale, a staple of the region thanks to the soft water from the Lake District. This is, Pale Ale meets Lager. We add pilsner malt to the bill to help keep it crisp and deliver a full flavoured pale with tangerine and piney citrus flavours with the refreshment you should expect
- Next we are off to Belgium for the Westmalle Dubbel. A dark Trappist beer with a secondary fermentation in the bottle. The creamy head has the fragrance of special malt, the flavour is rich and complex, herby and fruity with a fresh-bitter finish.
- Thirdly we are off to Spain for Luis Canas Rioja Crianza. A new Rioja to our shelves, Ruby red with notes of balsamic. Intense spice and oak on layers of velvety cherry fruit and a slight hint of liquorice. Lasting rich fruit flavours with smooth round tannins.
- Finally, our favourite red of the last…well…EVER!! It’s the new vintage of the Bogle Phantom Red Blend. A plush red blend from California that blasts out spice, juniper and toasted coconut, then fills the mouth with plums and blackberries. Aged for 24 months in 1 and 2 year-old American oak, Phantom exits with an enthralling and passionate finish.
Serious wines, for (not very) serious folk...Should be an absolute spanker!!
