This week, we have: World Champagne Day!

Champagne Day takes place on the fourth Friday of October each year.

Do we need another excuse to drink the World’s most famous & elegant Bubbles?

No, we didn’t think so..

Therefore, We have rustled up some incredible examples of Champagne from Grande Marque Houses to award winning Wines.

All these are subject to change...but...here's the lineup!

- First up, we will start you off with Louis Roederer, Brut Premier, NV; The Vineyards that Louis Roederer own have an average quality rating of 98%, which is unrivalled by any other Grand Marque Champagne House. Established in 1776, they are one of the few remaining family-owned Champagne Houses, and unlike many who buy fruit from growers, Roederer own 200ha of vines, which account for over two-thirds of their production.

Very fine Bubbles, & a nose of Fresh Fruit- Apples, Pear & Red Berries, with the weight & complexity of Brioche, Toast & Almond flavours of a wine aged for several years.

- Secondly we have Pierre Mignon, Brut Rose; The Vineyard of 14ha is spread over the whole of the Champagne area, all picking done by hand. After the careful blending process all of the wines are aged for at least 3 years before release to ensure unwavering quality.

Delicate Red BerryFruit on the nose, hints of Biscuit complexity. Bright, juicy & creamy on the palate with a core of ripe Red Fruit & a delicately scented finish.

- Finally we will be trying a glass of Devaux, Cuvee D- Aged 5 years;  Michel Parisot- Chef de Cave (Head Winemaker) since 1999, was named the ‘Sparkling Winemaker of the Year’ at the 2020 International Wine Challenge, where this particular wine won a Silver in 2021.

The ‘D’ collection wines are Devaux’s very best. Extended ageing on Lees for over 60 months (the legal minimum is 15 months).

The Cuvee D is rich & intense, with lively acidity bringing balance, freshness & minerality. There is a plethora of spiced, dried & fresh Fruits, and a surge of Citrus acidity on the lasting finish.

Serious wines, for (not very) serious folk...should be an absolute spanker!!
