Spain produces a lot of wine…If we could, we would drink it all, it’s one of the most magical and magnetic parts of Spain’s varied and eclectic culture. From the weather, to the food, Spanish wine is a thread that runs through it all, makes it all better…and it was pretty incredible already!
Now as I create this tasting at the start of April, trips to Spain are still looking a long way away…maybe by the time we do this at the end of May they’ll be more of a reality…who knows…but this tasting will be like taking a shrt holiday and I tell you what…it might just give you some wanderlust/FOMO/Inspo to head over to the wonderful Iberian Peninsula and experience it all first hand!
We are quaffing some banging Spanish juice and feasting on snacks from that fair country too, Salud!!
The wines are delivered to your door, with matched snacks and we then taste it together online, we will be live streaming on Facebook LIVE and of course on Zoom too!! Banging wines and 2 pillocks hosting...or 2 pillocks and Jen...
The 'portions' are 100ml individual ‘Tasters' and 500ml 'Carafes' or the imperious 'Full Bottle'. Pick the right size for you, your budget and how many guests you have. The carafe and Full Bottle would be perfect if you had friends round!!
All these are subject to change...but...here's the lineup!
- Firstly we are having the Pazo Senorans Albarino. It’s hard to believe Pazo de Señorans have been making wine for a mere 28 years given that they are now considered one of the finest producers in Spain. Nectarine, fresh figs, orange zest and white flowers. Dry, citrus flavours and a mineral-driven finish, A satisfying balance of power and finesse. Paired with incredible anchovy stuffed Manzanilla olives.
- Secondly we have the Cellar del Roure ‘Les Prunes’ Blanco de Mando. A white wine from the red skinned Mandó grape from the same vineyards as used in Safra is harvested early to enitice fresh and delicate Mediterranean style flavours. An attractive pale pink. Very refreshing pure fruit with citric flavours and a zinc minerality. Light fresh and delicate. Paired with ‘Drunken Goat’ Murcia al Vino cheese.
- Last up we have the Ja! By Tinedo. A totally organic, raw, vibrant interpretations of La Mancha wines with no oak treatment to mask a pure expression of the fruit. A beautiful bright red purple colour. On the nose, it is intense and fruity. In the mouth, alive and fresh, with soft tannins. Paired with legit air dried Jamon Iberico from Extramadura in South West Spain…the king of cured Jamon!

- We are having some Sangria y’all!! Casa Lolea No 1 (Red) or No 2 (white) - Each household in Spain has its own sangria recipe and Casa Lolea has their our own secret blend, fully artisan, a perfect combination of wine and fruit with a frizzante touch. Paired with some incredible Himalayan Pink Salt Catanies. Insane caramelised almond in a hazelnut and Pink Himalayan salt praline from Catalunya.
Serious wines, for (not very) serious folk...Should be an absolute spanker!!
