La Báscula is the name given to the Spanish wine range produced by Ed Adams MW and South African winemaker Bruce Jack. The term itself means weighing scales, and represents the balance between indigenous Spanish varieties and modern winemaking. Their philosophy is to focus on small volumes and really high quality - making wines that offer excellent value for money whilst being true to the regions they represent.
A blend of predominantly Garnacha and Cariñena, with a portion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah - the Garnacha vines are low-yielding, and nearly 50 years old. The wine spends 10 months in new Dargaud and Jaegle oak barrels.
The old vine Garnacha fruit provides rich, dark and complex, spicy blackberry characters. A big and serious wine - ripe and juicy enough to be enjoyed now but with enough structure to mature for a further 5 years.
62% Garnacha, 23% Carinena, 15% Syrah
