Brand: Labastide Dauzac
Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
Vintage: 2020
ABV: 14%
Who/What/How:
- Labastide Dauzac have honed their craft on 42 hectares of organically fertilised 35-40 year old vines in the iconic appellation of Margaux. If you like red Bordeaux, then you're in the right place. While it is certainly approachable right now, (unlike some other young Bordeaux reds), this wine will continue to develop in the bottle for 5 to 10 years.
Taste:
- Labastide Dauzac Margaux is a big and rich wine with a velvet-like texture in the mouth. The tannins are still strong, but they don't overwhelm the wine which benefits from the acidic Cabernet Sauvignon grape. Look out for classic notes of oak ageing, (such as cedar, baking spice and cinnamon), alongside fresh fruit flavours of blackcurrant, black cherry and plum.
