Brand: Quierón
Grapes: White Tempranillo
Vintage: 2021
ABV: 12.5%
Who/What/How:
- The vines for this Quierón family wine are found at 640 metres above sea level, in low nutrient soil which limits yields and boosts up the flavour. Great care is taken to preserve the fresh and vibrant fruit flavours, but 85% of the wine is aged in large French oak barrels for six months. This provides a bit more body and complexity, with the subtle spiced aromas many white Rioja wines showcase.
Taste:
- The floral, herbal and fruit flavour will dominate the nose and palate at first. Intense notes of apricot, peach, white blossom, fennel and thyme are undeniable. These give way to other powerful flavours, such as passion fruit, honey, brioche and almond, as well as restrained notes of clove and tobacco. All in all, this powerful and complex wine is a delight that culminates in a long, luscious finish.
