This Saturday we will be giving this whole shebang a whirl...Fingers crossed this works...

As mentioned there are 2 levels of buy in - single person 'Taster' level and multi person, afternoon-drunk lush 'Full Bottle' level. 'Taster' gets 100ml of each wine in glass reusable bottles (don't bin them, we will need to come get them for next time), 'Full Bottle' gets a full 75cl bottle of each wine.

The wines we will be tasting together are as follows;

Mar de Frades Albarińo Atlantico - Buy it here

Whether drinking this sat alongside the sun of the Spanish coast or sat in your garden by the kid’s paddling pool, this wine works!!
With Rias Baixas being the spiritual home of Albarino, Mar De Frades have definitely done it justice with this fantastic expression. A bright raw-lime colour and aromas of mango, pineapple and lychee with great minerality and a salty edge due to the coastal wind influences. This wine is a perfect accompaniment to fish dishes as well as vegetable dishes such as artichoke and asparagus.

JJ Hahn Stelzer Road Merlot - Buy it here

When you think Merlot, you might think a bit wishy-washy...However this Merlot from JJ Hahn packs a bit of a punch. On the nose there are lashings of stewed plum, violets and cinnamon. The palate provides stewed plums and blackcurrants with a dash of cinnamon and clove spice. The long finish is supported by silky tannins and a little acidity. Matured in a mixture of new and seasons French oak, blended with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon just to give it a little extra kick!

Los Intocables Black Malbec - Buy it here

The Untouchables. Using a modern take on ageing, this Malbec has been aged in North American bourbon barrel for 12 months. Distinctive aromas of red berries marked by notes of caramel and vanilla. On the palate, soft tannins give creaminess, big and bold volume and meatiness. The flavours of ripe caramelized fruit are perfectly amalgamated with the notes of smoke provided by the toasting of the wood, leaving a pleasant and persistent finish. This really is an Argentinian Malbec to go with steak!!
