Who/What/How:
- Domaine Rolly Gassmann was established in 1967, but the Rolly and Gassmann family histories in Alsace can be traced back as far as the 17th century. A marriage joined the families in 1967 and now second-generation Pierre Gassmann runs the 50 hectare vineyard. They are renowned for their storage of older vintages. Annually, they produce about three hundred-thousand bottles a year, but they currently have over two million in storage.
Taste:
- The cellar sits just 500 metres from these vines. So, they arrived at the winery in pristine condition. The grapes are then gently pressed, before undergoing a temperature controlled fermentation with indigenous yeast. Finally, it spends some time on the lees to add texture and complexity to this exceptional wine which is packed with notes of white flowers, citrus zest, white grapefruit, white peach and apricot.
