Who/What/How:
- Château Mercian have carefully selected vineyard sites in the Yamanashi and Nagano Prefectures. The former is home to indigenous Japanese grape varieties, whereas the latter looks to cultivate international varieties.
Taste:
- Château Mercian Yamanashi Koshu Sur Lie has spent some time ageing on lees. This brings a lot more weight to the wine and also adds some real texture, as well as subtle notes of toasted bread. Beyond that, you'll be hit with notes of super ripe citrus fruits, red apples, apricot and just a hint of flint.
