Brand: G. D. Vajra
Grapes: Dolcetto
Vintage: 2023
ABV: 13%
Who/What/How:
- The Vajra family are based in the village of Vergne, which sits just above the town of Barolo. They have 10 hectares of vines in the actual Barolo region, but this particular wine comes from just outside this area. The wine is 100% Dolcetto - a wonderfully rich and spicy grape variety that is much loved by the local Piedmontese people.
Taste:
- G. D. Vajra Dolcetto d'Alba has a lively deep purple colour. The nose opens with tones of wild berries, mulberry, hints of white pepper and sweet spices and fresh thyme. The palate is bursting with blueberries and fresh plums, with a refreshing acidity that makes it a great accompaniment to food. The finish is elegant with a lovely note of almonds.
