Who/What/How:
- Jean-Marc Burgaud has been dubbed 'Monsieur Côte du Py' by a Bourgogne magazine. This title comes with good reason. Jean-Marc Burgaud's estate boasts seven hectares of vines in the fabled 'Cote du Py' area of the cru level Morgon region of Beaujolais. With high-density plantings of vines dating back to 1940, the old-vine site is a source of some of the finest Beaujolais that you're likely to come across.
Taste:
- Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Côte du Py has been aged in concrete, as Jean-Marc notes that "Gamay has a difficult relationship with oak". This means that the fresh, bright and vibrant fruit flavours are allowed to shine through in this wonderfully exciting wine. It is certainly light and fresh but, thanks to old vine grapes and vine placement, it boasts deeply concentrated and powerful tastings notes. These include ripe red cherry, sweet red plums and raspberry.
