Vintage: 2021
ABV: 12.5%
Who/What/How:
- Maximin Grünhaus, (now run by sixth-generation winemaker Maximin von Schubert), sits on steep south-facing slopes a stones throw from where the Ruwer and Mosel Rivers meet. The vines sit in an advantageous, south-facing, position. The famous blue and red slate soil provides the wine with strong mineral notes and aids ripening as the larger rocks help to store the sun’s heat
Taste:
- The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo cold fermentation with indigenous yeast in stainless steel to retain fruitiness and freshness in the final wine. It is packed full of vibrant notes of kiwi, blossom, honeydew melon, banana, as well as notes of white pepper and ground nuts. You'll also detect a real texture on the palate in this undeniably mineral wine.
