We love Tribaut-Schloesser's wines so much that we wanted to spend a bit more time introducing you to this wonderful organic Champagne house.
The History of Tribaut-Schloesser
The Tribaut-Schloesser Champagne House was established in 1929 by René Schloesser and Lucie Coutelas. It began as a small operation. Around 1000 bottles were produced anually and René would cycle the bottled Champagne to the local station where they were sent on and sold in Paris.
Following the end of World War 2, Champagne sales flourished and production at Tribaut-Schloesser increased. Now, the fourth generation of the family keep it alive.
The Tribaut-Schloesser Vineyards
Tribaut-Schloesser has been organic certified since 2023. All the soils are treated with only natural products which help to ensure that the vineyard site remains healthy and the Tribaut-Schloesser wines can be produced for many generations to come.
The organically cultivated vines of Tribaut-Schloesser are situated across four vineyard sites. These include Ecueil Premier Cru, Venteuil and Verneuil. However, they are primarily situated in the Brunet Valley. This section of the Champagne region benefits from the Marne Valley's clay-limestone soil and Montage de Reims chalky soil.
The vineyards are situated on a south-south-eastern aspect. This maximises the sunlight exposure and helps to ensure the grapes ripen fully in what can be the strikingly cool climate of the Champagne region.
